Paradox Live THE MOVIE Animated Film Set to Premiere in Japan in 2027
A first teaser visual reveals the music video “Against the Chains” featuring ten teams and 32 characters.
The animated film Paradox Live THE MOVIE will open in Japanese cinemas in 2027. Alongside the final film title, the hip-hop project is also releasing a first teaser visual, showing the leaders of the nine existing teams standing together on a stage. A precise cinema release date has not yet been announced.
Film Continues the Story of the Music Teams
The theatrical film was first announced at the end of May 2026. It has now been confirmed that it is titled Paradox Live THE MOVIE. The production describes the project as a “Live Film”: in addition to the performances, the characters are also set to appear offstage. The animation studio STUDIO GRAPH77 was already named as the production studio when the film was first announced.
The originally announced lineup includes nine teams with a total of 29 characters. The new teaser visual shows their team leaders and, for the first time, the film’s logo. Further details about the plot, the exact release date and a theatrical run in Germany have not been disclosed so far.
Paradox Live began in 2019 as a multimedia project centered on hip-hop battles in a near future. Alongside songs and drama CDs, it includes stage productions. In 2023, the TV series Paradox Live THE ANIMATION premiered. Other music anime are also being continued on the big screen, including Girls Band Cry: The Movie and the new theatrical versions of KING OF PRISM.
New Song with 32 Characters and Live Dates
Alongside the film announcement, the full music video for “Against the Chains” is being released. Unlike the existing film lineup, the song brings together ten teams with 32 characters. In addition to the previous nine teams, ILLGATOR joins, whose three members are voiced by Hiiro Ishibashi, Yu Serizawa and Hayato Dojima. The video uses specially drawn illustrations for the fourth phase of the music project.
This video will only connect to YouTube once you play it.
The event Paradox Live Dope Show 2027 is also scheduled for June 19 and 20, 2027 at the LaLa arena TOKYO-BAY in Chiba. The first battle CD of the fourth project phase, LIVE FOR the TRUTH – Round1 “UPRISING”, will be released on February 10, 2027 and includes new songs from the ten teams. Another announced initiative is a collaboration with the mobile game Break My Case in early 2027.
With the theatrical film, the story of the music project is being told in another format following the TV series. A similar coexistence of music releases and anime productions also characterizes BanG Dream! MyGO!!!!! // Ave Mujica.
