The Rose of Versailles: New Art Book and Exhibition
EDITION88 is showing about 50 art prints by Riyoko Ikeda and is releasing a 72-page artbook featuring Oscar and Marie Antoinette.

A new art book with color illustrations by Riyoko Ikeda is being released for The Rose of Versailles. Alongside it, the Japanese gallery EDITION88 is showing about 50 art prints featuring motifs from the manga in Tokyo from November 12 to 29, 2026.
72 Pages of Illustrations by Riyoko Ikeda
The book is titled The World of The Rose of Versailles – Art by Riyoko Ikeda, or Versailles no Bara no Sekai in Japanese. It runs to 72 pages in a 263 × 186 millimeter format and costs 5,940 yen in Japan.
The design draws on the Rococo style: a hardcover with gold embossing and a velvet-like surface is meant to recall a classic jewelry box. Inside the book, Ikeda's handwritten signature is also printed alongside the words "Liberty, Equality, Fraternity."
The chapters are devoted, among others, to Oscar François de Jarjayes and Marie Antoinette. Another section shows Oscar together with other characters, including André and Rosalie. The art book is rounded off by an overview of the EDITION88 art prints and a chronology.
Exhibition and Limited Special Editions
The gallery is exhibiting about 50 prints based on illustrations from the book, which are offered for sale on site. The event takes place at the EDITION88 Flagship Shop in the Tokyo Design Center in Gotanda. It is open Thursday through Sunday from 12 to 18 o'clock, and admission is free.
In addition, EDITION88 is selling special editions in which the art book is combined with a framed art print. A variant limited to 180 copies includes a hand-signed print. Another edition pairs the book with a small-format print based on a template colored by Ikeda.
The publisher offers the book in store and in the official EDITION88 online shop. During the promotional period, buyers receive an illustrated document sleeve while supplies last. For interested buyers outside Japan, EDITION88 also provides an international shop view.
The exhibition focuses on the original printed motifs rather than a new anime production. Other exhibitions of Japanese manga art include the history of shoujo manga shown through more than 800 originals and illustrations from Frieren and NANA for an anniversary exhibition.
